Our 2nd dose of NBC news for today - NBC will be greenlighting a new game show pilot titled "Face the Ace," a Las Vegas gameshow in which regular contestants will play poker tournaments against the pros.
Contestants can either gamble their winnings, risking their money for a chance at even more money, with a chance of losing and walking away with nothing, or can walk away with the first amount of money they won.
Steve Schirripa, from The Sopranos fame, will host this thrilling gameshow. NBC will launch it this summer, on August 1 at 9pm. But, the show will be airing regularly on Saturday afternoons beginning sometime in September. 7 episodes have been ordered so far.
This is indeed an odd and risky move for NBC to airing a gameshow like this on mid-day Saturdays, with an early August launch. I suppose we'll hear more about this at NBC upfronts.
