As the early leakings continue, looks like FOX has just renewed freshman drama Lie to Me for a second season. The pickup, for 13 episodes, comes as no surprise, as the drama just scored its best ratings last week in 5 weeks. FOX is hoping the show will blend in nicely with their slate of new and returning shows in the fall.
The news comes with a twist, though: "Shield" creator Shawn Ryan will now become showrunner. He is currently working on CBS' "The Unit" as executive producer/frontrunner, and remains committed to that show, which is still in contention for a renewal. If it does get renewed, Ryan will be heading both shows, something he is familiar with doing.
This comes as good news as FOX is the first to announce their fall lineup at Upfronts on Monday. Only a few bubble shows remain.
