Could this be a sign of bad luck over at NBC's new drama pilot "Parenthood?"
Death struck the set as NBC Drama Vice President Nora O'Brien unexpectedly passed away of a brain aneurysm, at the age of 42, after working for NBC Universal for 6 years. One the day of her death, she was complaining of being dizzy, and eventually collapsed, before dying at 10pm at the Marin General Hospital.
Production has been shut down at "Parenthood" yesterday and today, and will resume on Monday. O'Brien previously worked on NBC's new show "The Philanthropist," which is set to premiere this summer.
So, is this a sign of bad luck for the new NBC pilot? The Peacock network is yet to find a new solid drama hit for their schedule, while holding onto failing dramas like Heroes and Chuck and failing sitcoms like My Name is Earl and 30 Rock. Promising new drama "Southland," which premiered in late April, has since seen huge ratings declines since the premiere, and is still up in the air for renewal. And as NBC's ratings continue to decline, they continue their struggle to find even the slightest of audiences.
Will "Parenthood" continue strong without the creative development from O'Brien, or will it also flop? NBC reveals which shows will be picked up, renewed, and cancelled this Monday at their "Infront," something the other networks don't do. Although they won't reveal their full fall schedules until Upfront Week in mid-May, fans of NBC shows will either be happy or upset this Monday.
Which shows do you think NBC will pick up, renew, and cancel? Will on the bubble shows like Chuck, Medium, and Southland return, or will all 3 be cancelled? From what I'm hearing, Chuck and Medium are currently fighting for the last spot on the schedule, so is there any truth in this? If so, which will be renewed, and which will be cancelled? Post your thoughts below - I'd love to hear them!!!

Wow, that is shocking. It says 13 episodes, but it doesn't say where.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you - ratings will continue to freefall for it. My guess is Southland will be sharing a slot with someone. It'll probably air at first September-December (unless its ratings really pick up), and then be replaced with either Chuck, Heroes, or Medium January-May.
