Anyone remember the pilot titled "Vituality" from last season? Supposedly, it started out strong with a date slated for the fall, but the buzz faded, and FOX planned on it coming for midseason. Of course, that didn't happen, and the show faded away. I guess a pilot was made and bought by FOX, but the series was never given an episode order.
Now, seems like FOX wants to get this pilot off their chests, and are planning for a 1 night even airing of the 2-hour pilot "Virtuality" on July 4th. Of course, this is the 4th of July, so clearly FOX has little to no expectations of it, and it's obviously nothing more than burnoff.
"Co-created by Michael Taylor and Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica"), the sci-fi drama revolves around the crew of the Phaeton, Earth's first starship. To endure the 10-year journey, the astronauts use virtual reality modules which allow them to assume avatars and explore self-created scenarios. But just as the mission is about to enter its critical go/no-go phase, a virus begins to infect the system and puts all of their lives on the line.
The show's ensemble cast includes Clea DuVall, Erik Jensen, Gene Farber, James D'Arcy, Jimmi Simpson, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Joy Bryant, Kerry Bishe, Nelson Lee, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omar Metwally, Richie Coster and Sienna Guillory.
Peter Berg helmed the Universal Media Studios-based pilot and executive produced alongside Taylor, Moore, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Sarah Aubrey."
So, if you're looking for a night of good entertainment while doing nothing of importance at 8pm on July 4th, or are interested and want to DVR it, it will be airing for this night only. But, this is just a pilot. Think of it as a miniseries really, because I assure you unless it gets 10 million viewers, you won't see more of it. Still, an interesting move by FOX, and its nice to see them air the pilot for fans who may have been at the least.

On July 4th at 8:00 I'll probably be out watching the fireworks. I'm sure many others will too. It would have been betterif they aired it on July 3rd. lol
ReplyDeleteSo will I. We have a 4th of July party every yeary by me, and we buy our own fireworks for the night and put on a show for family and friends. While the pilot seems intriguing, I definitely won't be watching. Why they chose 4th of July, I have no idea. It would have been nice if they could have aired it later in July, if they wanted it to do well at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat they may be looking to do, though, is recreate another Seinfeld. Didn't the pilot of Seinfeld air on July 3rd or 5th or something like that? Seems to me like they're hoping they can create the same kind of magic with this pilot-LOL. FOX can be a strange network sometimes.
