Word going around is that 3 NBC pilots are a sure go:
-- Medical action-drama Trauma and family dramedy Parenthood starring Peter Krause and Maura Tierney are said to be locks for a series pickup, sources say.
-- Comedy Community starring Joel McHale and Chevy Chase also seems almost certain to get a place on the schedule. While fellow comedy 100 Questions for Charlotte Payne is considered "hot." Buddy comedy Off Duty with Bradley Whitford is described as "medium to hot."
-- Executives are said to be cooling toward nurses dramedy Mercy, with screenings for David E. Kelley legal drama Legally Mad and Dick Wolf's detective mystery Lost & Found starring Katee Sackhoff said to have not gone well, but the projects considered still in contention because of their auspices. Still no word on apocalyptic drama "Day One."
Meanwhile sources are saying that NBC may not make a decision on the fate of drama "Chuck" this Monday at infronts. The show still has a 50-50 chance of returning next season, but NBC isn't ready to make a decision on it yet. This seems kind of stupid to me - the season's over, the show did poorly, so if they're going to cancel or renew it, they might as well just do it.
If Chuck were to come back, it probably wouldn't be for a full season. It just hasn't done well enough this season to warrant a full season renewal. Other on the bubble shows, like Medium and Earl, and newcomers Southland and Parks & Recreation, will be announced on Monday. My guess is both Southland and Parks will return, but both will get some retooling, especially the latter. What are your thoughts?

From the Hollywood Reporter...
ReplyDeleteAt CBS, the "NCIS" spinoff continues to look like a sure thing. Both of the network's legal-themed dramas, "The Good Wife" and "U.S. Attorney," also have come in strong, as has the Capitol Hill-set "House Rules." The network's medical dramas "Three Rivers" and "Miami Trauma" have not been delivered, but both have something going for them: "Moonlight" star Alex O'Loughlin and pre-eminent CBS producer Jerry Bruckheimer, respectively.

I love NCIS but I found the pilot episodes boring. Hopefully they will improve it when it goes to series. I remember when The pilot episode of NCIS aired on JAG and it wasn't that great either. Now it's one of my favorite shows.
