Ratings Report - Week of Monday, April 6

Welcome to the first Ratings Report of the blog! As promised, I'll be doing a ratings report every Monday, for ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and the CW. In it, I'll break up the ratings by day and by network, giving you the ratings first and my insights second.

Monday, April 6
ABC:
8:00PM DANCING WITH THE STARS - 19.88 million, 12.5/19 HH, 4.6/12 (18-49), 5.9/13 (25-54)
9:32PM SURVIVING SUBURBIA - 11.25 million, 7.2/11 HH, 3.0/7 (18-49), 4.0/8 (25-54)
10:02PM CASTLE - 9.03 million, 6/1/10 HH, 2.3/6 (18-49), 3.0/7 (25-54)

CBS:
8:00PM THE BIG BANG THEORY - REPEAT (preempted in some markets) - 6.94 million, 4.3/7 HH, 2.6/7 (18-49), 3.0/8 (25-54)
8:30PM HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER - REPEAT (preempted in some markets) - 6.1 million, 3.9/6 HH, 2.5/6 (18-49), 2.8/7 (25-54)
9:00PM PRELUDE TO A CHAMPIONSHIP - 12.15 million, 7.5/12 HH, 3.9/10 (18-49), 4.7/11 (25-54)
9:15PM NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP UNTIL 11:47PM ET - 17.65 million, 10.8/18 HH, 6.3/16 (18-49), 6.9/17 (25-54)

NBC:
8:00PM CHUCK - 6.1 million, 3.7/6 HH, 2.1/6 (18-49), 2.5/6 (25-54)
9:00PM HEROES - 6.11 million, 3.9/6 HH, 2.6/6 (18-49), 2.9/6 (25-54)
10:00PM MEDIUM - 7.17 million, 4.8/8 HH, 2.2/5 (18-49), 2.9/7 (25-54)

FOX:
8:00PM HOUSE - 13.29 million, 7.9/12 HH, 5.1/13 (18-49), 5.9/14 (25-54)
9:00PM 24 - 10.96 million, 6.5/10 HH, 3.8/9 (18-49), 4.7/10 (25-54)

The CW:
8:00PM GOSSIP GIRL - REPEAT - 1.08 million, 0.8/1 HH, 0.5/1 (18-49), 0.5/1 (25-54)
9:00PM ONE TREE HILL - REPEAT - 1.09 million, 0.8/1 HH, 0.5/1 (18-49), 0.4/1 (25-54)

My thoughts: A nice night for ABC. Dancing with the Stars held even pretty much with the week before. Surviving Suburbia saw a nice premiere, and hopefully it'll be able to build on these numbers tonight! If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it - it's the funniest comedy ABC has had in quite some time! And Castle proved it isn't lead-in dependent, and while it's holding the audience, its demo is low, which isn't great. CBS comedies were preempted in many major markets, and its numbers were lower than usual. The game itself, saw great numbers. FOX had a normal night, with 24 being hit slightly be the game, and NBC so more downfall for Heroes. Now it's just sad - the total viewer numbers were the same as Chuck for this week, and both the demo and total viewers for Heroes hit a series low. Sad. And Medium remains a winner for NBC - it grew over a million viewers out of Heroes, it was the only NBC show to build in each half-hour, and its household numbers were the highest of the night for NBC. Why this show is so mistreated by NBC I'll never know.

Tuesday, April 7
ABC:
8:00PM IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE CHARLIE BROWN/CHARLIE BROWN'S ALL-STARS - 4.36 million, 2.7/4 HH, 1.2/3 (18-49), 1.5/4 (25-54)
9:00PM DANCING WITH THE STARS: THE RESULTS - 14.56 million, 9.1/14 HH, 3.3/8 (18-49), 4.4/10 (25-54)
10:02PM CUPID - 5.71 million, 3.8/6 HH, 1.6/4 (18-49), 2.2/5 (25-54)

CBS:
8:00PM NCIS - 17.81 million, 10.9/17 HH, 3.6/10 (18-49), 4.9/12 (25-54)
9:00PM THE MENTALIST - 16.92 million, 10.3/16 HH, 3.6/9 (18-49), 5.2/11 (25-54)
10:00PM WITHOUT A TRACE - 12.15, 7.9/13 HH, 2.7/7 (18-49), 3.7/9 (25-54)

NBC:
8:00PM BIGGEST LOSER 7 - 8.1 million, 4.9/8 HH, 3.2/8 (18-49), 3.6/8 (25-54)
10:00PM LAW & ORDER: SVU - 9.26, 6.1/10 HH, 3.3/9 (18-49), 3.8/9 (25-54)

FOX:
8:00PM AMERICAN IDOL TUESDAY - 22.81 million, 13.1/21 HH, 8.1/22 (18-49), 10.0/24 (25-54)9:09PM FRINGE UNTIL 10:09PM ET - 9.88 million, 5.1/9 HH, 4.0/10 (18-49), 4.8/11 (25-54)

The CW:
8:00PM REAPER - 2.11 million, 1.4/2 HH, 0.9/2 (18-49), 0.9/2 (25-54)
9:00PM 90210 - 1.96 million, 1.4/2 HH, 1.1/3 (18-49), 0.9/2 (25-54)

My thoughts: Idol lead the night again, but NCIS and The Mentalist held strong with normal performances. The Mentalist is a great show - watch it! Fringe returned to so-so ratings, but led in the 18-49 demo, which is its strength by far. Without a Trace also had a normal performance, but SVU seems to be hurting it, visa versa. Cupid disappointed (as guessed), and 90210 is so far disappointing since returning. Overall, a nice night all around.

Wednesday, April 8:
ABC:
8:00PM SCRUBS - 4.56 million, 3.0/5 HH, 1.9/6 (18-49), 1.9/6 (25-54)
8:30PM BETTER OFF TED - 4.04 million, 2.7/5 HH, 1.7/5 (18-49), 1.9/5 (25-54)
9:00PM LOST - 8.56 million, 5.8/8 HH, 3.8/10 (18-49), 4.2/10 (25-54)
10:02PM THE UNUSUALS - 6.83 million, 4.5/8 HH, 2.1/6 (18-49), 2.7/7 (25-54)

CBS:
8:00PM OLD CHRISTINE - 7.17 million, 4.5/8 HH, 2.1/7 (18-49), 2.7/8 (25-54)
8:30PM GARY UNMARRIED - 7.24 million, 4.5/7 HH, 2.2/7 (18-49), 2.9/8 (25-54)
9:00PM CRIMINAL MINDS - 13.61 million, 8.5/13 HH, 3.3/8 (18-49), 4.4/10 (25-54)
10:00PM CSI: NY - 12.5 million, 7.9/12 HH, 3.3/9 (18-49), 4.3/11 (25-54)

NBC:
8:00PM LAW & ORDER-REPEAT - 5.44 million, 3.1/6 HH, 1.1/4 (18-49), 1.5/4 (25-54)
9:00PM LIFE - 4.6 million, 3.0/5 HH, 1.3/3 (18-49), 1.6/4 (25-54)
10:00PM LAW & ORDER-REPEAT - 4.64 million, 3.3/6 HH, 1.2/3 (18-49), 1.5/4 (25-54)

FOX:
8:00PM LIE TO ME - 8.56 million, 5.3/9 HH, 2.5/8 (18-49), 3.3/9 (25-54)
9:00PM AMERICAN IDOL WED - 22.98 million, 13.4/21 HH, 8.0/20 (18-49), 9.9/23 (25-54)

The CW:
8:00PM AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL - 3.69 million, 2.6/4 HH, 1.7/5 (18-49), 1.6/5 (25-54)
9:00PM AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL - 1.86 million, 1.3/2 HH, 0.9/2 (18-49), 0.7/2 (25-54)

My thoughts: Don't expect Better Off Ted back next season. Lost seemed way down for some reason. And The Unusuals had a very soft premiere - will it go up this week or do worse than Cupid? Old Christine and Gary Unmarried easily outrate the ABC comedies, and while their ratings are okay, they're still on the bubble for next season. I give the edge to Old Christine, though. Criminal Minds gave a normal performance, but CSI: NY seemed down a bit, maybe because of The Unusuals? Life went out a loser, and I wouldn't expect it back either next season. Lie to Me was down, but still strong at 8pm, and Idol led the night again. And Top Model remains the only winner for the CW.

Thursday, April 9:
ABC:
8:00PM IN THE MOTHERHOOD - 4.51 million, 3.1/6 HH, 1.3/4 (18-49), 1.6/5 (25-54)
8:30PM SAMANTHA WHO? - 4.83 million, 3.3/6 HH, 1.4/4 (18-49), 1.9/5 (25-54)
9:00PM GREY'S ANATOMY-REPEAT - 5.12 million, 3.8/6 HH, 1.4/4 (18-49), 1.9/5 (25-54)
10:02PM PRIVATE PRACTICE-REPEAT - 4.22 million, 3.1/5 HH, 1.3/4 (18-49), 1.6/4 (25-54)

CBS:
8:00PM SURVIVOR: TOCANTINS - 11.24 million, 6.6/12 HH, 3.5/11 (18-49), 4.4/12 (25-54)
9:00PM CSI - 16.62 million, 10.1/17 HH, 3.8/10 (18-49), 5.3/13 (25-54)
10:02PM HARPER'S ISLAND - 10.21, 6.5/11 HH, 2.6/8 (18-49), 3.5/9 (25-54)

NBC:
8:00PM THE OFFICE - 7.32 million, 4.5/8 HH, 3.4/11 (18-49), 3.5/10 (25-54)
8:30PM PARKS AND RECREATION - 6.88 million, 4.2/7 HH, 3.0/9 (18-49), 3.2/9 (25-54)

9:31PM 30 ROCK - 6.81 million, 4.2/7 HH, 3.1/9 (18-49), 3.3/8 (25-54)
10:01PM SOUTHLAND - 9.86 million, 4.2/7 HH, 3.2/9 (18-49), 3.9/10 (25-54)

FOX:
8:00PM BONES - 9.01 million, 5.7/10 HH, 2.5/8 (18-49), 3.3/9 (25-54)
9:00PM HELL'S KITCHEN - 7.54 million, 4.4/7 HH, 3.3/9 (18-49), 3.8/9 (25-54)

The CW:
8:00PM SMALLVILLE-REPEAT - 1.97 million, 1.3/2 HH, 0.7/2 (18-49), 0.8/2 (25-54)
9:00PM SUPERNATURAL-REPEAT - 2.05 million, 1.3/2 HH, 0.8/2 (18-49), 0.8/2 (25-54)

My thoughts: Supposedly, Samantha Who? will be back next season. Why, I have no idea. In the Motherhood could go either way - I guess it gets a lot of online hits. If ratings improve, it may be back next fall or midseason. Survivor has been down lately, but last week's episode was really a snorer. CSI is also down for some reason, and tied a series low in the demo. Harper's Island had a good premiere, but good be better. Who knows - maybe ratings will go up over the weeks. The Office is very overrated, because its ratings aren't very good AT ALL. Parks & Recreation really didn't premiere too well at all - remember, Kath & Kim actually had a better premiere. Southland, meanwhile, could be NBC's next week. It built at 10:30 as well, which is a huge sign. Bones is doing very well on Thursdays, and Hell's Kitchen does fantastic in the demo. Both are having great seasons. Next week's HK looks great - tune in!

Friday, April 10 (fast nationals):
ABC:
8:00 PM WIFE SWAP- 4.64 million, 1.4/5 (18-49)
9:00 PM SUPERNANNY - 5.36 million, 1.8/6 (18-49)
10:00 PM 20/20 - 5.89 million, 1.9/6 (18-49)

CBS:
8:00 PM GHOST WHISPERER- 10.23 million, 2.5/9 (18-49)
9:00 PM FLASHPOINT - 9.72 million, 1.9/6 (18-49)
10:00 PM NUMB3RS - 9.72 million, 2.2/7 (18-49)

NBC:
8:00 PM HOWIE DO IT - 3.86 million, 1.1/4 (18-49)
9:00 PM FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - 4.36 million, 1.3/4 (18-49)
10:00 PM DATELINE - 4.76 million, 1.1/4 (18-49)

FOX:
8:00 PM TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES- 3.56 million, 1.3/5 (18-49)
9:00 PM DOLLHOUSE - 3.56 million, 1.4/4 (18-49)

The CW:
8:00 PM EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS - 1.47 million, 0.6/3 (18-49)

9:00 PM AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL-REPEAT - 1.23 million, 0.6/2 (18-49)

My thoughts: Just a normal Friday night I guess. Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs did good, and Flashpoint is only doing modest in the hour. Friday Night Lights went out with okay numbers, but nothing great, of course. Through DirecTV, it'll be getting 2 more seasons, so if you're a fan, you're lucky. Meanwhile, SCC should in no way be back next season. Same goes for Dollhouse.

10:00 PM 48 HOURS - 5.06 million, 1.2/4 (18-49)

NBC:
8:00 PM LAW & ORDER: CI-REPEAT - 2.9 million, 0.6/2 (18-49)
9:00 PM SOUTHLAND-REPEAT - 3.58 million, 0.9/3 (18-49)
10:00 PM LAW & ORDER-REPEAT - 5.19 million, 1.2/4 (18-49)

FOX:
8:00 PM COPS - 4.36 million, 1.4/5 (18-49)
9:00 PM AMERICA'S MOST WANTED - 4.9 million, 1.5/5 (18-49)

My thoughts: Not really much to say, is there? - besides, I miss what Saturdays used to be. All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, The Jeffersons, Golden Girls - what happened?

Sunday, April 12 (fast nationals):
ABC:
7:00 PM AFV-REPEAT - 5.49 million, 1.6/6 (18-49)

8:30 PM 60 Minutes/The Amazing Race – Viewers: 10.30 million, 2.8/ 8 (18-49)
9:00 PM The Amazing Race – Viewers: 10.84 million, 3.0/ 8 (18-49)
9:30 PM The Amazing Race/Cold Case - Viewers: 9.64 million, 2.4/ 6 (18-49)

NBC:
7:00 PM DATELINE - 6.4 million, 1.6/5 (18-49)
9:00 PM CELEBRITY APPRENTICE - 7.88 million, 3.0/8 (18-49)

FOX (all repeats):
7:00 PM AMERICAN DAD - 1.94 million, 0.8/3 (18-49)
7:30 PM KING OF THE HILL - 2.97 million, 1.4/5 (18-49)

8:00 PM CUTTROAT ISLAND - 1.36 million, 0.3/1 (18-49)

My thoughts: Extreme Makeover; HE is nothingt what it used to be. The Masters did great for CBS, but it seems like 60 Minutes, Cold Case, and The Unit sufferred from the off-schedule programmming. Meanwhile, Dateline is a much better option than Kings, and Celebrity Apprentice had another great episode. Did anyone watch last night? Joan Rivers is just hilarious sometimes.

And that's it!
