ABC Makes First Pickup with "American Family"

Apparently sitcom "American Family" has been picked up by ABC, set to launch in the fall. This was a pilot that was on the bubble for pickup at ABC, but seems they really liked how things were improving, as it beat out sitcom pilots like The Middle and Kelsey Grammar's pilot, which were getting the most buzz. No other details are available at this time.

In other news, seems like the Gossip Girl pilot at The CW is dead. The reason: The CW looked at Gossip Girl's ratings, and realized they could handle another failure. Meanwhile, seems like the Melrose Place pilot is getting a go for fall.

And CBS has lost $55 million in the first quarter of this year. Huge losses, indeed. Kind of surprising for being the number 1 network in total viewers. They have such a good lineup of shows, every single one successful and highly rated. What's shocking: NBC is actually making money. I guess stupid is as stupid does . . .
