Fall 2009 Show Prospects

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/04/fall-tv-cheat-s.html

Seems like Ausiello is making their own predictions on what will be back for next season, and what won't. You can go over and check it out for yourselves, but for now, I'd like to comment on a few interesting things.

At NBC, they're announcing Chuck, Medium, and Law & Order all to renewed. They say Medium has already been renewed for 13-16 episodes, which is no surprise. They also point out that writers are already getting started on Law & Order's next season episodes, whereas Chuck is called a likely renewal on their part, with nothing officials. I think all 3 shows will be back, as they all have very strong fanbases. They call Earl as going either way, but remember - FOX may be looking to bring it to their network if NBC cancels it, which would be a good thing for NBC, as the show is performing very poorly this season.

At ABC, they call In The Motherhood, Cupid, The Unusuals, and Surviving Suburbia as all longshots. I agree with all of them except Suburbia, which could still go either way. Either ABC will want it as a part of their new comedy block for next season, or since they didn't produce any of the episodes, this was just timeslot filler, and they'll be done with it by July. I'm led to believe, though, that it's more than just filler. ABC obviously liked this show, because if it was just filler, why not just air the remaining episodes of Samantha Who? instead. Castle will likely be renewed - I can't see ABC giving up on this yet, but it'll need to improve hugely to stick around. And Better Off Ted looks to be cancelled, but could go either way, so I agree with them on that.

At CBS, some very interesting things. They still list Old Christine as could go either way, but with ABC offering to give it a full season, it will definitely be renewed. On my pull here at the blog, Eleventh Hour is the overwhelming winner so far as favorite show to be renewed, but they're listing it as a long shot. Supposedly, the cast is already looking for new work. I don't agree with this. I think 11th Hour still has a very good shot at renewal, seeing how poorly Harper's Island has done in the same slot. I think it'll get more episodes. They have Gary Unmarried, Cold Case, Without a Trace, and The Unit as could go either way, all of which I agree.

And at FOX, it's the same things I already posted on. Dollhouse, Sarah Conner cancelled, Lie to Me returning. One thing I forgot to mention: Til Death was picked up for 22 more episodes with a deal Sony made with FOX, so we'll see those being aired sometime next season. The show is a huge loser - it averaged barely 4 million viewers in the 10 or so episodes it aired September-November, before it got pulled. FOX made a dirt cheap deal to keep the show around for syndication purposes. Where they'll air it, I have no idea. Could go somewhere like Sundays at 7pm, though.

  1. I wouldn't put too much faith in Ausiello, a clown who is just half a step above Perez Hilton.

He thinks "Eleventh Hour" still has a chance at renewal? The news that "til Death" is coming back came out a long time ago and he's just now hearing of it?

This clown probably gets all his information from the magazine/website he works for.
